The Master Program of Clinical Pharmacy, Faculty of Pharmacy UGM, held back the Clinical Pharmacy Basic Training (Batch 2), which was designed for Pharmacists, mainly those who worked in hospitals and other health care facilities. The training was held for 3 days, June 27-29, 2019, at the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM. The training with 21 SKP PD IAI DIY was attended by dozens of participants from various cities in Indonesia, from North Sumatra, Kalimantan, Bali, to West Sulawesi, who worked in hospitals, health centers, as well as academic institutions.
The Dean, Prof. Dr. Agung Endro Nugroho, S.Si., M.Sc., Apt., in the opening ceremony said that this training was the contribution of the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM to improve the competence of Indonesian Pharmacists in the field of clinical pharmacy. Prof. Agung appreciated the enthusiasm of the participants and the entire committee involved in this training. Chairperson of the committee, Prof. Dr. Zullies Ikawati, Apt., also said that this training is expected to motivate all pharmacists to always update knowledge and developments in clinical pharmacy care practices.
For three days, participants were given material by academics and practitioners of hospital pharmacy. On the first day, Prof. Dr. Sofia Retnowati, MS., as one of the presenters, delivered material related to the basics of effective communication. According to her, the key to effective communication is the existence of mutual trust between patients and pharmacists, which can be obtained by respecting the rights and willingness of patients, and building their responsibilities in the treatment process.
On the second day, one of the topic presented was the principle of drug therapy in pregnant and lactating woman patients, by Prof. Dr. Agung Endro Nugroho, S.Si., M.Sc., Apt. According to him, all drugs have the potential to cross the placenta to a certain extent, and therefore allow exposure to the drug in the fetus (fetus), so that the risk is teratogenic and induces malformation. The two main aspects of drug use in pregnancy are the effect of pregnancy on the pharmacology of the drug (changes in absorption, distribution, metabolism and / or excretion of the drug) and the effect of the drug on pregnancy.
On the third day, Dr. Widyati, M.Clin Pharm, Apt delivered material on the principles of therapy in liver and kidney disorders. Goals on Chronic Kidney Disease therapy are slowing down kidney function and controlling blood pressure. The main principle of therapy in patients with impaired renal function is dose adjustment and minimizing the risk of nephrotoxicity. While the therapeutic approach in patients with hepatic impairment includes lowering the high extraction drugs dose and starting with a low dose then titration until it reaches the therapeutic range or gives effect.
