UGM Pharmacy Students to Lead an Interactive HIV/AIDS Education in Wonosobo

UGM Pharmacy – Master of Clinical Pharmacy students brought HIV/AIDS education to SMAN 1 Wonosobo as part of a community service initiative titled "Prevent HIV/AIDS" (CEKAL HIV/AIDS) (27/02). The program, led by Dr. apt. Fita Rahmawati, Sp. FRS., aimed to improve understanding of the disease among students while addressing stigma and promoting prevention.

The event targeted 11th-grade students, offering accurate and accessible information through interactive classroom sessions. These discussions encouraged students to ask questions, share insights, and engage actively with the material. Beyond the presentations, the highschool students received booklets, leaflets, and souvenirs to strengthen what they have learned and ensure the program’s lasting impact. The initiative ties closely to several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It supports SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being by raising awareness about HIV/AIDS and its prevention. It aligns with SDG 4: Quality Education by equipping students with essential health literacy skills. The program also advances SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities by ensuring all students, regardless of their background, have access to vital health information. Finally, it reflects SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, highlighting collaboration between the university, students, and the school in tackling health challenges.

Through the "Prevent AIDS" campaign, Universitas Gadjah Mada reinforces its commitment to community empowerment and education. By addressing critical health concerns and having collaborations, the program strives to build a more informed, inclusive, and healthier society.
